Goals: Joe 3

A beautiful morning at Sandy Bay. The pitch was in excellent condition having been watered just before kickoff. Surprisingly, Flabbo had a full squad pitch side for the 8:30AM start (albeit just one sub). Flabbo handed debut starts to Leandro and Tom, so with Sanju showing up late, Henry was in goals. Thomie D and Leandro center backs, Scott and Tony full backs. The midfield had Rob and Tom in the center with Nick L and Adam on the flanks. Flabbo and Joe were upfront.
It took us a while to get going in the first half, but we were certainly the better team and were soon creating some chances. Nick came closest with an effort the keeper scrambled to save. Rob and Tom were controlling the midfield exchanges, whilst the only HKUSA threat was being handled by Scott at right back. As the half drew to a close, Rob threaded a ball through to Joe, who spun and shot past the HKUSA keeper. An excellent effort and the stroke of half time. Billy refereeing for the first time since his return from Australia blew up for half time.

Just one change at halftime. Sanju replaced Henry in goal, whilst Henry went onto the left wing replacing Nick. Not sure if we had finally woken up, but we completely dominated the second half, with some excellent pass play. We had a series of corners where our aerial dominance showed. Adam was unlucky not to direct one header into goal and Rob headed just over from another. However, our dominance soon paid off. Henry found Joe on the edge of the box and again Joe turned and struck his right footed effort past the HKUSA keeper. 2-0 Spartans. Pat came on for the last 20 minutes replacing Adam on the right wing. We should of extended our lead, but squandered a few chances. However, with the game drawing to a close, Pat chased down a back pass to the keeper, he managed to block the keepers attempted clearance, the ball bounced to Joe who calmly slotted into an empty net. FT: 3-0.

This has always been a tricky fixture at such an early hour. However, everyone played exceptionally well. Tom had a great game with Rob in central midfield. The defense marshaled by Thomie D were solid and gave little away. However, MOTM for his constant whining at Billy and excellent hat-trick. Joe.
