Goals: Andy B, Briggs, Nick, Joe, Lionel

The Spartans fresh from 2 consecutive wins, of which we scored 10 goals and conceded only 1, looked in positive spirits for the game against lowly placed Dynamo.

We started with Sanju in goal (no surprises there), back four of Briggs, Scottie, Andy B and Paul. The midfield was Joe, Nathan, Tom and Dave, with Mehdi and Nick up front. Spartans started brightly and soon go into their stride. Mehdi and Nick were immediately causing the Dynamo defense some problems and it was just a matter of time before we found the net. Dynamo were holding off strongly, but it was an unlikely source that broke the deadlock.

Out of nowhere Andy found himself in the Dynamo box, he controlled a floated ball with his right foot and calmly struck the ball with his left into the Dynamo goal past the hapless 4ft tall keeper (more to come on that….). As the half progressed and with Spartans completely dominating, we soon went 2-0 up. This time from a corner, the ball was not cleared and fell to Briggs, who skillfully tapped the ball home from 1 yard (the offending defender later confirmed that Briggsy was rubbish!!).

As the half came to a close, Briggsy was back in the action. In a rare Dynamo attack Briggs managed to stretch out a leg and push the ball clear. However, the referee decided that Briggs had subsequently fouled the player and gave a free kick outside the box, whilst also brandishing Briggs with a yellow card. Sanju was not amused and bellowed some monstrous noises towards the referee. Anyway, the resulting free kick was nicely taken by the Dynamo player and ended in the back of the net. HT: 2-1.

More of the same was the call from Flabbo at half time. Lionel replaced Nathan on the right side of midfield for the start of the second half.

More of the same is what we got and again we pressed forward forcing Dynamo on the back foot. Nick was running all over the place and was finally rewarded for his efforts. Remember that 4ft keeper, well on the right side of pitch, Nick picked up the ball on the half volley and struck a glorious drive over the hapless keepers head and into the net. (Seven goals in 3 games for Nick). Now everyone wanted a piece of the action. Joe decided to try his arm. Now from the left side, Joe smashed another high ball that sailed over the keepers head. 4-1. I think at this stage Dynamo managed to get another goal back from a corner. Briggs went close the other end and could have had a brace, but his effort (this time from 2 yards) hit the post. Then to cap off another great performance, Lionel obviously not feeling at all sorry for the keeper, beautifully struck from the right side. Yes again lobbing the keeper from 20 yards out. FT: 5-2.

Excellent result again. 3 wins on the trot and still in the hunt as we join 4 teams all vying for promotion. Again everyone played exceptionally well. The back four were solid as ever. The midfield of Tom and Dave completely controlled the game, with the wing players doing their bit to carve out chances for Nick and Mehdi. It was great to see 5 different scorers, which just shows we have strength all over the park. My MOM goes to Tom. He had a job to man mark Jon McKinley and did a fantastic job preventing any play come through that channel.
