Goals: Simon 2, Steve G 2, Aidan

In a glorious day at Kowloon Tsai Stadium Spartans took on Men United in a dead rubber with only pride at stake. Spartans once again only had the bare numbers at kick off with 12 players and gaffer on the sidelines with several players pulling out last minute or not being contactable at all.

Spartans start the match the better of the two teams but only just. Men United had glimpses of attacking flare but the solid Spartans defence seem to nullify any attack they mustered. It wasn’t long before Simon opened his account with a fairly simple tap in after being left unmarked. As the game went on Spartans weren’t able to find the goal although there was several players who had great chances to do so.

In the second half Simon Duff was once again on hand to hit his second goal and take the game out of Men United reach. Steve Gordon then hit our third before the goal of the game Aidan’s delicate chip rolled into the net. Stevie G got his second goal with some nice interplay beforehand for the Spartans fifth as Men United was definitely looking for the final whistle.

Everyone played well lead by captain Jim Rose who took on the reigns. Bertie and Thomas D was outstanding and Steph and newbie Seb were solid in defense. Midfield duo of Aidan and Rose worked well and dominated most of the match. While Steve Y and Adam provided able support on the wings. However both Steve G and Simon D were stand outs up front causing the Men United all sorts of problems.

Some big celebrations after the match for the league title which we had already won the week before saw some weary heads on Sunday.
