Goals: Forlan 3, Jens, Joe

Good to get back on winning ways again after desperately unlucky to lose to Revo the week before. JLeaguers are certainly not the team they once were and on this display I can’t see them making too many inroads up the table.

In the first half we knocked the ball around really well and Forlan amazingly scored a hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the game to give us a 3 nil lead. Jens also chipped in with a beautifully taken goal playing in an unfamiliar right hand role. With a 4-nil lead at half time we looked set for a cricket score in the second half but it wasn’t to be.

Our second half was patchy at best and we lost our way a lot during the half. Inability to control the ball and keep possession was evident. With the lead so high a few players got their chance to shine but didn’t feature and will need to step up if they are going to see more minutes in the tighter games in the future for the Saturday games.

Eventually a goal did come by a penalty for the JLeaguers, once again Sam did a fantastic save only for the second time this year we were caught napping and the rebound was put in by the JLeaguers player. To our credit this goal lifted us and we ended the game with much better play and inter passing. A few glaring misses with only a make shift keeper to beat was worrying signs for us, we will need to finish these off better especially in tighter games. In the end Joe slammed one just above their manager turn keeper who couldn’t control the shot and we got a fifth.

There was some encouraging signs in the team although we will need to the ante against the better teams. Rob D was outstanding in defence along with Jan who hopefully will recover from his groin injury soon. Miles was at his ever best and slotted well in centre defence when Jan came off. Bright debut from Islam who had a very fast JLeaguers player he had to mark on the left. Centre mids of both Stevies had solid games and always present to offer an outlet for other players. Out wide Joe had a terrific game along with Jens both players showing commitment to track back as well as get forward to create attacks. Simon had a good game up front and looked ever dangerous.

However little can be taken from Forlan who’s outstanding hat trick in the first half definitely takes Man of the Match Honors.
