Goals: Forlan, Stephen Y, Mike K
A game where we played it well in the middle but didn’t start or finish well at all. Our first 20 minutes was some of the worse football I have ever seen us play. Some players could even stop the ball or even do a straight pass. And it didn’t take long before we were down two goals the good. We then started to pick up and nice taken goal by Forlan got us on the right foot just before the break.
After half time debutant Stephen Yeung scored with a volley to put us on equal terms with all the momentum. However with some defence players caught out of position on a counter attack a shot from Studz saw us once again go down. Then some players started to give up and when a Studz player broke through the defence with no one chasing him he somehow missed an open goal after easily rounding Tommy. It was our life line but to be honest we never really looked like we wanted to play today and the result looked dead and buried after their third.
Joe had a great chance moments later with one-on-one with the keeper but he somehow got a foot to it to deny us an equalizer. However it wasn’t long before their fourth and fifth arrived some players didn’t look like they wanted to be on the pitch as the studz players many ex-spartans struggling to get in our Sat squad effortlessly weaved through our team. We got a late consolation goal once again created by Forlan, with Mike K taking the penalty.
All in all a terrible performance. Steve G and Forlan had some contributions throughout the game to take a note of but apart from that there was little to smile about. The season is only two games old and there are 22 left but on the first two showings things need to improve considerably if we are going to feature anywhere in the top half of the table. The passion and the desire to win needs to be there otherwise count on a very long and tough season ahead.
