SatSpartans 4 – Men Utd 0

Goals: Steve G 2, Joe M, OG.

After last week’s tough win against Goodfellas a much weaker and easier game to win the title on Saturday. We started off in hot form and should have been 3 nil up after 10 minutes with some glaring misses. Jens could have scored a hat-trick, Bertie should have scored his first goal for the Spartans and Stevie narrowly headed wide. In end we went to the break scoreless and still with a game to win.

Second half was a totally different affair and Steve G stepped up to show his class with two outstanding goals to break the seal.  Both were top draw shots from outside the box with the keeper having little chance with either. Joe pranced around three defenders to strike home our third and lay the game to rest with half an hour to play.

The final 20 minutes saw us chop and change the team around with Pat and Nathan  having great chances to extended the account. A crafty header by their defender rounded it to 4 and in the end the whistle blew and the title was ours.

A few speeches and some champagne corked open with beers and a penalty shoot out won by Rob entertained the crowd.

Everyone played well but special mention to debutants Jeff Suzuki and Rob Dickson who both look quality additions to the Spartans cause.

However MOM without a doubt goes to Steve G whose goals and general midfield play was truly at another level.

Some serious celebrations where had afterwards with special thanks for Sanj to have everyone at his place for BBQ. A few spews, lost wallets and mobiles, several very drunken and even showered Spartans saw the night away. I can only recall bits and pieces of it but the night can be best described as somewhere between mayhem and carnage for most.

A fantastic season saw some brilliant team play throughout much of it. Congratulations to all players who took part in the Saturday team, hold your heads up high you have done the club proud and savor and enjoy the moment.

We go into the history books and no doubt into Spartans fokelore………Championes!
