Goals: Jeff C, Medhi

With a strong squad to take on at the time second place Goodfellas we were confident going into the match that we could win this. A squad brimming with confidence after an excellent season our first half was sublime. We controlled the ball, passed it around and even though our opposition tried valiantly to close us down we had most of the play minus the goals. Our defence were playing their part and winning every ball and Knowzler was having one of those games in midfield you can only dream about minus the goals.

As the half drew to a close however we weren’t creating many chances and we went to break scoreless.

The second was different story. Goodfellas came out firing from the blocks and their striker totally free on the right had only Thomas to beat scuffed it wide. This was a huge let off and the game opened up and chances where had at both ends. Joe was coming into his element on the left and one excellent foray linking up superbly with Jeff saw us score the crucial opening goal from an acute angle strike.

We continued to press Goodfellas however they also where producing chances and the game opened up with both side looking for the next goal. Joe had a great chance to put us further ahead but hit it over bar. It was however a sublime finish by Medhi with an excellent strike that gave us a buffer.

Goodfellas weren’t done and they created several chances one at the death which was brilliantly saved by Thomas to keep a clean sheet and snuff out any chance of them coming back.

A tough game against quality opposition, everyone played well, Jeff, Medhi and Joe were outstanding in attack, however Thomas D wins MOM honours pipping Mav and Knowzler by a whisker.

A crucial win against strong opposition, a win this Saturday may seal the title depending on how other results go.
