Goals: Richard Crowley 2, Medhi, Thomas D, Jan, Forlan, Steve G.

In fairly warmish day at the Valley, Sparts took on wooden spoon favorites Legal Head in what surely would have been a match to end the season for either side which had lost. For the first time that I can remember for Valley fixture everyone turned up before kick-off although some just making it with minutes to spare.

With a host of new faces we actually started with a familiar 11 players. The first 5-10 minutes was fairly even until their keeper not playing to the whistle handed the ball to Forlan who also thought play had stopped. A shuffle here a lose ball and Medhi was on hand to put us 1 nil up.

From this point on we were in cruise control. Goals came think and fast with Legal Head’s horrendous keeper and Spartans hungry for blood the score could have been anything. Forlan rounded the keeper for our second before Jan’s screamer from 25 yards gave us our third. Thomas slotted our third with nice interplay before Richard Crowley slotting home his first on debut to take us 5 nil at the break.

A few changes from both sides and the game was a few minutes old before Richard slotted in his second and our 6th. A few more changes from us taking a host of players off and we went off the boil a bit giving Legal’s 2 gift goals. The highlight no doubt was Patrick’s near punch up with one of the nicest guys in HK who is twice his size. Order was restored however when Steve G came back on and took on about 8 players to slot home our 7th.

A few drinks afterwards at our unofficial sponsors The Stables…and then off to Lags for the newbies and the oldies. Everyone played well Jan had excellent game with Briggsy in back. Richard’s debut was a shining light but all in all Steve G commanded the centre of the park and no doubt was the Man Of Match for mine.

Season is long 19 games to go, we should definitely be up the top after Saturday’s display. If the team is focused like this no doubt we will do well.
