A warmish morning we took on a some what depleted Monopoly side. Robbed of players from Studz and Revo, Monopoly looked a shadow of the team we lost to last season. Nevertheless the Spartans machine rolled on and when Steve G waltz through the Monopoly defence to open our account it was pretty clear this game was going only one way.

 

Jan who was holding the ball up well in the front line released young Forlan through who slotted home our second in wonderful style. Briggsy looking ever threatening in the air jumped well over the Monopoly defence from a corner to seal our third goal. Unfortunately we lost Thomas to a calf injury just before the break and we are hoping he can make a quick recovery for the games ahead.

 

We were in control of the game and a few subs did little to turn the tide in this one. Then when Lionel found some space he slotted a through ball for Gus to slot home our fourth. Andy B who received a nice pass from Kevin hit an absolute peach of a goal from 20 yards out. After the 5th goal changes where abound and we should have really scored a few more goals. A Jens clearance off the line saved us some blushes before a wayward back pass put us under pressure which Champagne handballed much like the Monopoly player did in the first half. A valiant attempt by the gaffa in goals was to no avail to keep the clean sheet and the ref blew whistle much to Monopoly’s relief.

 

All in all another excellent performance we will have some sterner tests in the weeks to come. MOM went to Andy B who narrowly beat Steve G, Bertrand and Thomas D who all put in excellent performances.

 

A weeks break and then a game vs FORCE and some tougher and crucial games in November and December. We may organize a friendly this week will keep you posted.
