Well another emotional rollercoaster, this time at a packed out Sai Kung stadium. The players bench wasn’t quite as packed however, with a quarter of the squad turning up 20 minutes late…more fines Henry mark them down!

The first half was really all about the first 5 mintues. Under pressure from the start due to some unconvincing defending, Revo eventually got a clean shot away from inside the box. It looked goal bound until super Bert, untroubled by the fact that he wasn’t the goal keeper, leapt majestically across the goal to palm the ball away. Even though Stevie Wonder in a dark room could have spotted it was hand ball, the referee somehow missed it in true canto style. A lot of protests from them, a lot of shoe gazing from us…..and then the pesky linesman intervened and explained what had happened. Bertie saw red. The penalty went in. In the heat and confusion, and with only 1 sub, the rest of the half was a struggle, but we struggled well and went into the break just 1-0 down having had the majority of chances, with the player caretaker manager missing 2 of them personally.
The 2nd half was undeniably a good performance from us, so much so in fact that some of the Revo thought we still had 11 players. Thom D, Joerge and Mav were tireless in midfield, the defence looked comfortable led by man of the match Briggsy, and new keeper Gregg looked solid throughout. The subs were rolling on and off well. We battled till the end and again had them on the ropes, but we couldn’t quite find the finish and the final ball let us down, final score 1-0 to the old enemy.

MaccyD’s and beers on the way home, and a special rice wine and trip to Lagunas for Bertie, and we live to fight another day. It’s a marathon lads, not a sprint. Legal Head next week @ 3pm, and the gaffer is back. We’ll deffo spank them!
