So we went into the game with quiet confidence against top of the table Studz. Armed with a full quota of our best strikers and defenders I felt we could sneak a win. However, we ended up letting in 3 goals and only scored 1. However, the full story was not in the scoreline. We outplayed Studz from start to finish and our interplay was some of the best I’ve seen this season. We hit the post twice through Bruno and Michael, had a header from Bruno saved on the line and had a blatant handball not given.
Studz can count themselves very lucky but we have to credit them for hanging on and hitting us on the break. We can learn from how they played as by Saturday’s performance very few of their players would make our team and yet they are top of the league. Bruno and Forlan were outstanding once again up front both having lots of chances. Forlan scored another excellent goal through the legs of the keeper after Stef’s long ball. Michael Johnson also did well when he came on for the last 20 as we moved to a 4-3-3 formation. In midfield Rob once again was very good going forward and was unlucky not to score having several chances.
Tom did very well on the right and also had some chances and put a wonderful cross on the head of Bruno who’s header was saved on the line. Joe worked hard too on the left as did Michael Vera when he came on. Knowles also had an early chance. Our defense did their best but got a bit exposed as we chased the game and were a little disjointed as we shuffled keepers and defenders around. Thanks to Dan who went in goal at short notice after Sanju’s no show. Dan made one or two very good saves. We fought hard but it wasn’t to be let’s move on. We have 11 games left and we must win at least half of those games. The countdown begins in a few weeks against Legal Head.
