Goal: A Jones

As they say in French “Cest La Vie” and another unfortunate loss to Monopoly probably has sealed any chance of us contesting  for the title this year. The game in hand and loss making us drop to 5th in the table after starting on the day in second place. Overall our first half was scrappy passes didn’t hit the mark and we didn’t create many chances to be honest. Although again we dominated possession but it didn’t turn to be anything clear cut. Monopoly had not much either going forward and when we easily allowed their striker to turn and shoot a rebound off Leandro save saw them go one up a bit against the run of play in a dull first half.

With some words at half time from the manager we start with much gusto. Our best chance came then with new signing Romailson beating the Monopoly defence and one on one with the keeper he saves. From the save Monopoly somehow scored, a punt up field, a throw in, a free shot at goal and we are 2-0 down. It could have so easily been 1-1 instead but luck hasn’t been on our side this year.

This sort of sparked us into action and for the rest of the half we played some decent football and with much resolve and determination. Aidan scoring a terrific goal outside the box setting us for grandstand finish. Romailson also had another great chance with a header with goals at his mercy. In the end Monopoly hold out with Leandro almost  scoring in the dying seconds with header from a corner.

A terrific and brave second half which we needed really in both halves to win this match. Standout performances for mine where found all over the park. Thomas D doing some amazing tackles. Woody had another great game and looks to be an excellent addition to squad. Rob and Aidan were full of class with Aidan scoring a magical goal. Romailson had a very good debut and looks like a brilliant find and no doubt will score plenty of goals in the coming weeks if he stays with us. Bruno was very good upfront and controlled the game. However for mine MOM went to Thomas D for some amazing defending.

Overall I was very proud of everyone’s second half effort it showed a lot of guts and determination. The only thing that disappointed me was the amount or arguing between us. This is social football and although I know it means a lot to players and trust me it does to me we shouldn’t be getting on other players backs especially the younger guys. I hope in the future we can curb this and just concentrate on playing hard and winning games. This club and team has some terrific spirit so let’s look to keep this going till the end of the season and secure some more wins. You never know anything can happen and it would be good to see us finish the season well.
