Spartans last game and promotion to div 1

SPARTANS IN TOP FLIGHT AFTER 10 LONG YEARS.

Spartans sealed promotion to the top flight for the second time in their history with a gutsy win versus German All Stars.

Spartans took a deserved lead against a committed German side with Paul Hoy long range effort sailed into the top right hand corner.

Jonathan Southgate side went into the game not knowing if a win would guarantee them promotion.

But with ANP losing to Hoo Cheung even a draw would have been enough for promotion.

Germans made the better start in a scrappy opening which suggested the occasion may have got to Spartans.

Chris Aukland got behind the Spartans defence but saw his shot sailed over the bar an oncoming Ruben.

Big American Spartans captain Terry Graham was supended for this important match but his acrobatic overheads on side pitch did little to deter the Spartans resolve.

Spartan’s sluggish display showed on the bench where manager Jonathan Southgate and his coaching staff became very animated at half time.

We could lose 8-0 every game for all I care. Just one season in Division One would be great!
