A sticky night in Kings Park witnessed a grueling encounter with Island United. Nites won the previous fixture by totally bullying the opposition. Island United to their credit were on much sterner stuff this time round and had a very well organized back four with and outstanding centre back who has played Yau Yee select.
Nites started with the following line up: Dan M in goal, Miles, Dan H, Pablo and Nav in defense. Stef, Tom, Chi and Matteo in midfield, Cowley in the hole and Joe up front.
We have a strong bench of Rory, Oli and Andy B… Oh we also have our Indian goalkeeper on route from Happy Valley. Mike M and Brin are no shows (thanks for letting your team mates down and also preventing others from playing as the squad was capped)
Island United start much better and dominate the opening fifteen minutes. They score on twenty. We work hard but don’t really create any meaningful chances. At half time we shuffle the pack and all our subs come on and do very well. In the second half we push Stef upfront and the captain works hard and provides a bit more cutting edge. Unfortunately we let in another and 2 – 0 is a mountain to climb against quality opposition. Stef hits the post late on from a free kick but it finishes 2 – 0 to Island United. An entertaining game played in the right spirit. Everyone, works really hard and plays for each other. My man of the match goes to Stef but everyone played well. Special thanks to Dan for going in goal, Miles for playing in both full back positions, Rory, Oli and Andy for being patient as you are all quality players.
Better luck next time.
