So we went into the game with quiet confidence against top of the table Studz. Armed with a full quota of our best strikers and defenders I felt we could sneak a win. However, we ended up letting in 3 goals and only scored 1. However, the full story was not in the scoreline. We outplayed Studz from start to finish and our interplay was some of the best I’ve seen this season. We hit the post twice through Bruno and Michael, had a header from Bruno saved on the line and had a blatant handball not given.
With a win required by the gaffer who was in Mumbai for a 3 day extravaganza for an ex Spartan Varun’s big day(s). We saw an overwhelming response to play but in the end we capped the squad at 16 for the game as Stef & Jay were filling in to run it on the day. Was going to be a tight match and challenging making the subs from the pitch. We had a nice turn out with Forlan back from a hamstring injury and Bruno back in the line-up pairing upfront together (having both upfront gave us two nice attacking forwards-no discounting any other forwards in the club). Both played for the 2nd time together and had a splendid day making runs and linking up. We also had Rory back from a surgery he had recently, Jim Rose making his Saturday debut for this season along with Jack and Adam making their 2nd Spartan appearances. In the end we had very strong team for the day.
MAN OF THE MATCH : Everyone in the squad was outstanding so no individual award to any one player.

STATS : We are now 5th but it’s very tight near the bottom so we got to keep winning to stay out of there. We have scored the 3rd most goals in the League (13 in 7) and we have the 2nd best defense (conceded 8 in 7). This is something to build on.
Congratulations to all the squad who turned out against J Leagers at the weekend. We put in an extremely professional performance and destroyed J Leagers in a pretty one sided affair. As usual we played in a 4 – 4 – 1 – 1 formation with the following line up: Dan, Sean, Bertie, Jay, Olivier, Jack, Rob, Randy, Coombes and Michael J. On the bench we had Pablo, Andy B, Joe, Jeremy, the Vera family and the Mancke family who would give us some impetus once they came on.
