Passports at the ready as we made the trip to Shatin Sports ground to face Metro in a hot Saturday afternoon and to play on a pitch which had more sand on it than Shek O beach!
A few no shows and shin guard socks and boots exchanges and we were ready for battle. We started off well trying as best we could to pass the ball around on the bumpy sandy pitch, and an early half chance fell to Stef which the keeper saved. A ball gets played in for the right hand side, the keeper clashes with Stef and misses the ball altogether and Eddie is there to slot home his first goal of the match around the 10 minute mark.
A few interchanges with Eddie and Adam linking up well puts Stef through on the left who crosses the ball into the 6 yard box for Scott to volley home 2-nil
Jason comes close with a header from the left after a corner was whipped in. The Metro team lacked urgency and tried to compensate for this by pushing and shoving and also dropping like flies anytime we go near them. Scott gets a yellow after a Metro player goes down as if he had been shot from the stands in what we all thought was a perfectly good tackle!
Colin and Jason and dealing with any slight threats at the back with ease and Jeff isnt really being troubled.
Eddie scores with his head this time from a corner from Stef 3-nil. We go in at half time 3 nil up and totally in control.
The 2nd half starts and they manage to get a goal back, but we keep our heads and play our game. Matt plays a ball over to Scott in a move they rehearsed at work and Scott fires in his 2nd goal and Sohos 4th.
Changes are made and James comes off for Stevie Y after another exchange of shin pads, socks, and boots and Stevie eventually takes the field. Adam moves up front and Stevie slots into midfield.
A pass from Adam sees Scott put through and from an acute angle manages to get his Hat-Trick! 5-1!
After a dubious play on from the referee, after the lines man had flagged for offside, a Metro player was through on goal being chased by Jason, Jason did all he could to reach the ball but unfortunately took the man instead, penalty! Now by this time Scott was now in goals to let Jeff come and play in Midfield. Scott was dancing about the goal line like Bruce Grobbelaar on drugs and to his credit his antics must have worked as the Metro player put his pen wide, justice was done!
Jamil comes on for Eddie on the left and makes some good runs down the wing
In the end a spanking 5-1 win! well done lads!
