The early part of the game is a shocker as the opposition retain the ball well and they pepper our goal with shots. They have a few good chances and some half chances. Big thanks to Sanju who pulls off multiple saves and holds on to some dangerous crosses. We build on this and to our character hold on and are the better team for the rest of the half.

Ed has a good run and cross which is saved after fifteen minutes. Stef shoots a dangerous free kick over the bar. They get a break but Terry make the first of a few crucial tackles. Aidan has few shots shots wide and has a good game from here on. Jay then has a free kick over from just outside the box. We finally get our breakthrough. A ball falls to Ed on the edge of the box but his shot is cleared off the line. Cowley then has shot saved from outside the box with a shot from his left foot. Finally in the dying moments of the half Sanju has another save after guy goes past two of our defenders with ease. Another dangerous moment sees one of their shots hit the post with Sanju stranded which Colin clears off the line. A few minutes before the end of the half Adam shoots wide across the face of the goal. Pat also had a good chance but didn’t shoot early enough and then was bundled off possession.

No idea how it’s still 0-0 but it is. Everyone fought very hard and although we probably should have made better use of our chances we could have been down and out if not for Sanju.

Second half

In the second half Leandro slots into centre back and Pablo gets a run in both full back positions. Stef gets a little run at left wing. Aidan goes to the right and up front for a bit. Oli comes into midfield and Dan goes up front. Cowley also gets a run on the wing. The gaffer may have tinkered a bit too much but we again can’t seem to get the breakthrough goal even though the opposition tires and we look the better team in the first twenty minutes off the half. Adam and Cowley get shots in from Jamil and Dan crosses. Jamil does really well on the left and works his socks off. Stef has a superb game defending and attacking. Unfortunately they capitalize on two mishaps and tap in two goals. We get a few corners but get no luck and Dan picks up a heavy knock. It finishes 2 – 0 to DKFC.

We worked very hard but it wasn’t to be. On Sunday the Soho team took their chances but Nites didn’t take them a few days later. Better luck next time.

On a tedious note please give us more time if you are going to drop out or think you may have to drop out. I understand that people will have business commitments but see it from the managers point of view. We had quality players on the reserve list who we did not use. We ended up losing an important league game 2 – 0. Jason, Paddy and Nick would have made a huge difference to our performance.
