The Spartans under the guise of Barnstoneworth Utd returned to the 18th Manila Nomads 6-a side Football Tournament with high hopes, but only a handful of players!!!
Pitched in a very competitive group, Barnstoneworth Utd. were eventually placed 3rd in their group and qualified for the much coveted Plate competition
Stirred by a welcome early start on the Sunday morning, and P. Burgosmeister Bobby hounding the troops out of bed, we managed overcame a weak Nomads French team 3-0, inspired by a brace by Captain Kirk (he must have been comatosed by the jet fumes wafting over from the adjacent Manila airport).
The rivalries between the HK teams is evident in this competition, so when we were pitched against German All Stars in the Plate quarter final we were anxious to upstage our nemesis. Unfortunately, and although we probably deserved to progress in the competition, we were sent packing.
