What an end to a cracking weekend of football. We follow up with Saturday’s 2 -1 win for Nites with a 5 – 0 hammering of ABC in the cup for Soho.

After loads of phoning around and help from Rick Man (the gaffer’s favourite agent) we have 15 (squad below). Thanks very much to everyone who made the effort to play in "China" at 9 30pm on a Sunday. However, everyone had an enjoyable game.

Given that we had to not lose to go through we started with a 4 – 5 – 1 formation that suited us well the night before. We have several more chances in this game and the opposition have nothing to offer.

Colin shoots early on from a free kick, Adam then hits another free kick over after a few minutes. On five minutes Adam sends a  through ball to Forlan who scores to make it 1 -0.

Nick then has an excellent run which sees Chi shoot with his trademanrk outside of the boot. Forlan then has a solo run shoots wide. On 15 minutes Forlan has another run past two players and cuts the ball across to Nick who’s shot is saved. This is completely one way traffic. Ed has a determined run uses his "Toby Flood" upper body strength, two of their guys bounce off him and then passes to Forlan who smashes hom to make it 2 – 0 after twenty minutes. Nick who is a constant danger on the right has another excellent run and his dangerous cross which is saved. Colin then has another shot from distance. Then the moment of the half as Adam picks up the ball our half and runs at them for what seems like forever. He goes past 3 – 4 of their players like Messi cuts inside the box and has a shot which is saved. This would have been the best goal ever scored by a Spartan had it gone in.

Nick runs at them again and has another cross which is blocked before Adam’s pass finds Forlan who slots home to make it 3 – 0 and complete an outstanding 1st half hatrick. Colin then has a long free kick which Ed taps in and its 4 – 0. Just before the break the ref can’t resist getting into the game and books Dan for a foul he didn’t see but was alerted to by one of their players. A farce.

At half time we change the formation to try something new and also use all the subs as early on as we can. We go to 3 – 5 – 2 with Miles coming on for Tony.

SECOND HALF

We start a little slowly as we get used to the formation and Nick "Lights Out" Langridge helps out early clear a dangerous attack from the back. This give us the momentum we need and we then continue like the first half. Ed has a shot early before Miles hits the post from range with a thunderbolt of a shot. The upright seemed to be shaking for some time afterwards. Nick passes to Rick Man who shoots over. Colin has another free rick which finds Rick Man who shoots wide. Forlan then has two shots which go wide and are saved in quick succession. Finally we get a goal when Nick pass Miles who shoot past the keeper to make it 5 – 0. We then have several more attempts but can’t get another goal and it stays 5 – 0.

Mug of the day: Chi although having a superb game gets the award for his solo effort before the end with only the keeper to beat hits it straight at the keeper.
